Bridal Convention in Thailand

When you think of Thailand, you might think of powdery shores and swaying palm trees. Yet, this beautiful Southeast Asian state is rich in lifestyle and has much more to offer than awe- inspiring landscapes. Thailand’s bride custom is steeped in history and is a significant component of the localized society, particularly among aboriginal cultures like the Thai Baba.

In the past, the man would take one of his closest friends to officially inquire for the bride’s hand in marriage from her father and to communicate the amount of marriage he is going to provide. Although this is no longer a common practice, it will still happen in some areas of the nation.

The couple will next”wai” and sit or kneel together as a senior puts a mong kol-style piece of cloth on both of their faces to represent their union. Additionally, an elder will apply holy ocean to their fingertips while they are still alive. By giving the few their gifts and funds, numerous guests will attend this meeting.

Finally comes the fun part. A hamid maak or commitment march will be formed at the bride’s home in the form of a parade of family and friends. The plates contain items such as betel bonkers and ingredients, incense sticks and candles, grains, and flags that represent love, growth, fertility and endurance. Men and women transport the trays to the bride’s home, including young girls dressed in traditional Thai attire. As they progress, they will dance to the beat of protracted drums and sing. The whole event is lively and cheerful.
